3. Gordon West (1962-1973, 402 appearances)

Signing from Blackpool in the March of 1962 for a then British record transfer fee of £27,000 (those were the days!), West would go on to replace Albert Dunlop between the sticks and forge a stellar Everton career, winning the First Division championship in his first full season with the club.

Becoming the first choice keeper for the best part of ten years, forming a formidable partnership with centre-back and fellow Everton legend Brian Labone, West would go on to add the FA Cup and a further league championship to his medal haul. In the 1969/1970 league-winning season, West would go on to keep a clean sheet for 21 games, a club record that stands to this day.
